About This App
Energy Lens keeps track of the photos and data collected during an industrial energy assessment. Take pictures directly in the app, and each one is filed under the right site, equipment type, and piece of equipment as you walk the plant. When the walkthrough is done, everything is already organized and ready to export as a PDF report or a ZIP of neatly named photos.
There is no server or database to maintain. Each assessment lives as an ordinary folder in your own Google Drive, so photos stay easy to find, share with teammates, and back up.
What It Does
Capture in the Field
Take photos with the camera, pick them from the phone’s library, or import ones already in Drive.
Organize by Equipment
Group photos by assessment, equipment type (compressed air, HVAC, lighting), and individual unit.
Tag Every Photo
Label shots as you take them, then filter or retag later in a full-screen viewer.
Export for the Report
Generate a PDF report or ZIP archive. Each export is also saved, time-stamped, to the assessment folder.
Work as a Team
Share an assessment folder in Drive and the whole team sees and tags the same photos.
Your Data, Your Drive
Photos are regular Drive files. Deleted items go to Drive trash and can be restored for 30 days.
📁 How Your Data Is Organized in Drive
Signing in creates an Energy Lens folder in your My Drive, with one folder per assessment:
My Drive/
└─ Energy Lens/
└─ Acme Plant Audit/ ← assessment
├─ Data Collection/
├─ Compressed Air/ ← equipment type
│ └─ Compressor 1/ ← equipment
│ └─ photo_….jpg
└─ Exports/ ← every PDF and ZIP, time-stamped
Tags, capture time, and site location are stored as hidden Drive file properties, so they travel with the photos and are visible to everyone the folder is shared with.
🛠 Set It Up for Your Team
Each team deploys its own free copy. Plan on about 15 minutes; full instructions are in the project README.

- Deploy. Import the repository into Vercel’s free tier, add your client ID as
VITE_GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID, and deploy. - Authorize the site. Add your Vercel URL to the OAuth client’s authorized JavaScript origins, then sign in.
